When to order finishing and assembly with the parts
Order the finish with the part when the drawing calls for one: anodized aluminium, powder-coated steel. The part then leaves the network finished, and one supplier answers for both.
Order sub-assembly when several parts we make go together before they reach you: a housing with its bearing and shaft, a frame with its covers. You receive one assembly instead of loose parts from several suppliers.

Design rules that cut cost
- Name the finish fullyState the finish, its class or thickness and the colour on the drawing. "Anodized" alone leaves the colour and layer open.
- Mask only what must stay bareThreads, fits and contact faces may need masking. Mark them; every masked feature adds hand work.
- Allow for coating thicknessCoatings add thickness to the surface. Toleranced fits and threads must be dimensioned for the state after coating.
- Plan contact pointsParts hang on racks during anodizing and coating. Show where a contact mark is acceptable.
- Send the assembly drawingFor sub-assemblies, send the assembly drawing with the parts list and torque values. We assemble to it.
