Parts we quote for research and instrument builders

Typical parts and what the drawing usually asks for. Your drawing decides; this is where we usually start.

PartTypical materialProcessWhat the drawing usually asks for
Cryostat flanges and plates1.4301 / 1.4404, Al 6061CNC turning, CNC millingSealing faces, flatness, hole patterns to the drawing
Copper plates and thermal linksCopperCNC millingFlat contact faces, clean surfaces, documented copper grade
Turned parts and fittingsBrass, 1.4404CNC turningThread quality, sealing faces, burr-free bores
Beamline supports and brackets1.4301, Al 6061CNC millingPosition of mounting holes, flat reference faces

What we check before parts leave

The points cryostat and beamline drawings usually call out, checked against your drawing.

  1. Material gradeMaterial documented to EN 10204 3.1 and matched to the grade on your drawing, since behaviour at low temperature depends on it.
  2. Sealing facesSealing faces checked for scratches and for the roughness on the drawing.
  3. Contact facesFlatness of copper contact faces measured, and reported when the drawing calls it a critical feature.
  4. Cleaning and packingCleaning and packing are agreed per drawing before the order.
  5. Burr-freeEdges, bores and threads checked for burrs and chips.
  6. Critical dimensionsA measurement report for the features you mark, delivered with the parts.
Export controlSome cryogenic and quantum equipment, and items specially designed for it, can be dual-use controlled. We ask for your classification before quoting and do not ship controlled items without the required licences.
